Travel to the Holiday Inn, Stratford-upon-Avon
Stratford-upon-Avon is accessible by air, rail and road.
By Air - Participants travelling to the conference by air are advised to where possible use Birmingham Airport located 27 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. The airport operates flights daily from over 60 national and international destinations. Alternatives include Heathrow Airport , East Midlands Airport and Coventry Airport: all options involve travel to Stratford-Upon-Avon by taxi, rail or coach (see below):
From Birmingham International Airport:
- By Taxi - A taxi rank is located outside the airport terminal and is approximately a 45 minute journey at a cost of ca. £45 - £50.
- By Train - From Birmingham Airport participants have the option of a direct train to Stratford-upon-Avon or Warwick Parkway. Please note that the last direct service on Sunday 2 September to Stratford-upon-Avon departs at 18:19 and to Warwick Parkway at 21:03.
- To Stratford-upon Avon - Take the first direct train to Birmingham New Street; leave the train and walk to Moor Street (which is clearly signposted). From Moor Street there is a direct service to Stratford which operates 19 minutes past every hour. The last direct train from Birmingham on Sunday is at 18:19 - trains on Monday 3 September are more frequent.
- To Warwick Parkway - Take the first direct train to Birmingham New Street; leave the train at New Street and take the service to Warwick Parkway, changing at Solihull. On arrival at Warwick Parkway you are advised to take a taxi to Stratford-upon-Avon (approximately 11 miles).
- By Coach - National Express operates a service from East Midlands Airport to Warwick Pakway. A timetable can be found at www.nationalexpress.com.
From Heathrow Airport:
- By Taxi – A taxi to Marylebone Station (journey time approximately 45 – 60 minutes) then as below.
- By Train - From Heathrow Airport, participants have the option of a direct train to Stratford-upon-Avon or Warwick Parkway (from London Marylebone Station). Please note that the last direct service on Sunday 2 September from London Marylebone to Stratford-upon-Avon is 17:35 and to Warwick Parkway is 21:40.
- To Stratford-upon-Avon - Using the Underground network take the Piccadilly line to Green Park and change onto the Jubilee line for Marylebone Station. From Marylebone using Chiltern Railway take a direct service to Stratford-upon-Avon. This service operates every two hours* – see www.chilternrailways.co.uk)
Please note that the last train from London Marylebone on Sunday 2 September is at 17:35; trains on Monday 3 September are more frequent. - To Warwick Parkway - Using the Underground network take the Piccadilly line to Green Park and change onto the Jubilee line for Marylebone Station. From Marylebone using Chiltern Railway take a direct service to Warwick Parkway. On arrival at Warwick Parkway you are advised to take a taxi to Stratford-upon-Avon (approximately 11 miles).
- By Coach – National Express operates a service from Heathrow Airport to Warwick Parkway Rail Station. A timetable can be found at www.nationalexpress.com. From Warwick Parkway, participants are advised to take a taxi to Stratford upon Avon (approximately 11 miles).
From Coventry Airport
- By Train - Coventry Rail Station is just 15 minutes away from Coventry Airport and linked by the 737 bus, which stops right outside the station. There are no direct trains from Coventry to Stratford upon Avon, the following are the most direct routes:
- Take the Central Trains service to Birmingham New Street. Walk to Birmingham Moor Street Station and board the Central Trains Service to Stratford upon Avon. Trains depart every hour, and the full journey should take 2 hours.
- Take the Virgin Trains service to Bournemouth, leaving the train at Banbury. At Banbury change to the Chiltern Trains service to Stratford upon Avon. Trains depart every two hours, and the full journey should take just under 2 hours.
- By Coach -Take the 737 bus from the airport to Coventry Pool Meadow bus station. From Pool Meadow bus station there are 4 direct services daily to Stratford upon Avon riverside bus station. The journey from Pool Meadow to Stratford upon Avon should take an hour.
From East Midlands Airport
- By Taxi - A taxi rank is located outside the airport terminal and is approximately 75 minute journey time at a cost of ca. £95 - £100.
- By Train - The railway stations of Long Eaton, Nottingham and Derby are all located close to East Midlands Airport. All stations have trains that run to Birmingham New Street Station; from there participants should walk to Birmingham Moor Street Station and board the Central Trains Service to Stratford upon Avon.
- Passengers travelling to Derby railway station can connect onto the Airline Shuttle bus. Trains depart every hour and the full journey should take 2 hours
- Passengers travelling to Nottingham railway station can connect onto the Nottingham Skylink bus. Trains depart every hour and the full journey should take just under 3 hours.
- Passengers travelling to Long Eaton railway station can connect onto the rainbow 5 bus. Trains depart every hour and the full journey should take two and a half hours.
- By Coach - Take the 240 bus from the airport to Coventry Pool Meadow bus station. From Pool Meadow bus station there are 4 direct services daily to Stratford upon Avon riverside bus station. The journey to Pool Meadow should take one hour, as should the journey on to Stratford upon Avon however please note waiting times at Pool Meadow can be up to one and a half hours.

By Rail
Travel from London
- From London to Stratford-upon-Avon - Chiltern Railways operates a direct service from London Marylebone to Stratford-upon-Avon; trains depart every other hour. The train station is 1 mile from the hotel which is either a 15 minute walk or a short taxi ride normally costing £4.00 - £5.00. Please note that the last direct train on Sunday 2 September is at 17:35
- From London to Warwick Parkway - Chilern Railways operates a direct service from London Marylebone to Didcot Parkway; trains depart approximately every 30 - 40 minutes. The train station is approximately 11 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon and participants are advised to take a taxi. The last direct train on Sunday 2 September is 21:40.
Travel from Birmingham
- From Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon - Take the first direct train to Birmingham New Street; leave the train and walk to Moor Street (which is clearly signposted). The last direct train from Birmingham on Sunday is at 18:19 - trains on Monday 3 September are more frequent.

By Road - From the M40 -M40 Junction 15. Take the A46 to Stratford. After approximately 1½ miles (at first island) take the left fork A439 to Stratford. Continue for about 3½ miles, passing the “Welcome to Stratford” sign and after ½ mile the road bears hard left onto Bridgeway. Keep in the left hand lane and the hotel entrance is approximately 200 metres on the left. From other routes - Follow signs for A439/M40. You will filter a ring road marked ‘Leisure Centre’. Follow this onto Bridgeway and look for the hotel entrance on the left. Free route maps are available at www.theaa.com or www.rac.co.uk
Parking
The car park is adjacent to the hotel and is covered by CCTV (please note that cars and their contents are left at owners’ risk). On entering the car park take the ticket which needs to be validated at Reception to exit. Parking is free of charge to residents of the hotel.
