Date: Fri, 30 November 2007
Venue: Institute of Physics, London
Organised by: Superconductivity Group of the Institute of Physics

Introduction

This is the annual scientific meeting of the Institute of Physics Superconductivity group, which accompanies the Annual General Meeting of the group.  There are four invited speakers who will talk on a range of topics in fundamental and applied aspects of superconductivity research.  There are also six short slots which will be filled by talks selected from submitted abstracts to the meeting.   Hence this is a very good opportunity for UK superconductivity researchers to showcase their work.   This year the meeting is sponsored by the Bristol/Cambridge/St.Andrews EPSRC portfolio partnership, as well as the Superconductivity group itself, which means that we have been able to keep the registration fees very low (only £10 for students!).  So please use this opportunity to come to the meeting and present your work.  As an added incentive there will be a prize of £150 for the best poster by a student.

Posters
Abstracts for posters should be sent by e-mail to a.carrington@bristol.ac.uk and should be up to 1 page (A4) in length including any figures.   Speakers for contributed talks will be selected from these abstracts, so please make it clear when sending your submission if you wish to be considered for a contributed talk slot.  The preferred format for the abstract is a single page pdf file.  However, submissions in Microsoft Word and Latex will also be accepted.  The deadline for abstract submission is 1 November 2007.  All abstracts received will be combined into a booklet and distributed both electronically and in print form at the meeting.

Venue
The Conference will be held at the Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place, London W1B 1NT. Located in central London, the Institute is within 10 minutes walk of 5 tube stations and also within easy reach of Euston, Paddington and Kings Cross.
