Teacher Network Co-ordinators - Physics Enhancement Project (PEP)

The Institute wishes to appoint, from 1 December 2007, two Teacher Network co-ordinators, who will specialise in the support of trainee and newly qualified teachers, particularly those who are entering the profession through the Physics Enhancement Project (PEP).  They will have access to the experience and advice of the Institute’s Teacher Network initiative, which currently supports 26 regional co-ordinators.

The areas in which appointments are to be made are related to the location of the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) consortia and will therefore be in the vicinity of:

Bath
East London

The persons appointed will report to the IOP’s Teacher Support Manager, Christopher Shepherd and be supported by the Project Development Officer, James Camp.

Financial Benefits

PEP local co-ordinators will be paid £3,000 per annum for 4 hours per week.

Those appointed will be paid as consultants rather than employees and will be paid through the IOP payroll on a monthly basis.

There will be access to funds to provide cover/release from school for the co-ordinators and for the setting up of twilight courses and Saturday schools.

PEP local co-ordinators will be appointed on one-year contracts which will be renewable, subject to review.
