About Us

Teacher Network Co-ordinator

The Institute of Physics Teacher Network runs across the UK and Eire and provides support for those teaching physics at a local level. Network Coordinators work on a part time basis to organise and provide that support and there are now vacancies in the following areas:

  • North Wales
  • Kent
  • East Anglia
  • Sheffield
  • Lancashire
  • Yorkshire
  • Eire

Network Coordinators are paid a fee of £3,000 per annum and may also claim a similar sum to cover the expenses incurred in running meetings and events. The equivalent of about half a working day a week is expected but this also includes attendance at three meetings a year that last a day each and where training is provided. As one of the aims of the Network is to meet local need the coordinators tend to be largely autonomous.

Although you do not necessarily need to be an experienced teacher to be a Coordinator we have found that it helps. If you are enthusiastic about teaching physics and want to help take it further then we would like to hear from you.

Application is by letter and CV to gary.williams@iop.org in the first instance. The letter should outline what you have to offer other teachers to help them improve their own teaching.

If you are interested in being a coordinator but we have not listed your area then please let us know as the Network has a rolling program of appointments.

The closing date for applications is 1 November 2007.
