Any department or school (if there is no separate physics-based department) offering physics-based teaching and/or research can become a Juno Supporter or Champion. To become a Juno Supporter the department or school needs to make a commitment to the Code of Practice by letter. The letter (hard copy on university letterhead) should be signed by the Head of Department or School and a senior member of university staff who has authority to enter into agreements on behalf of the University.
Suggested content of letter applying to become a Juno Supporter (Word document).
Letters should be addressed to:
Dr Katharine Hollinshead
Project Juno
Institute of Physics
76 Portland Place
London W1B 1NT
An e-mail acknowledgement will be sent to the department’s nominated Charter contact, followed by a letter with confirmation of the date of which the Department became a Juno supporter. The department or school may then use the Juno Supporter logo.
Departments and schools can retain their Juno Supporter status for two years but must apply to become a Juno Champion within this period. If the department or school is unsuccessful an action plan based on the feedback received from the assessment panel must be submitted. A further one year is then allowed for a successful Juno Champion application.
