Teacher Support

Physics Teacher Network

Students and teachers at Swanhurst School participate in a Rocket Building event organised by West Midlands Network Co-ordinator Lynne Long

The Physics Teacher Network has been established to provide support for physics teachers across the whole of Great Britain and Ireland.

There are currently 27 regional network coordinators in the UK and Ireland and we are in the process of recruiting 7 more. These coordinators organise and coordinate local group activities and INSET, and help to forge better links between school sectors, and between schools and HE. They also act as a source of information about local initiatives and activities, and generally provide help and advice in response to requests. Click here to see a map of the network.

Most of the regional coordinators are practising physics teachers who are asked to undertake the work in their own time. The coordinators are paid an annual honorarium and provided with a budget that enables them to run the relevant initiatives and activities.

CPD Sessions

The Teacher Network offers a number of INSET packages that can help put a little extra sparkle into your teaching. There's no charge for the INSET which can be run as a one-hour twilight session, or something longer depending how hands-on you want to get. If you'd like this INSET to happen in your school then contact your regional network coordinator or email gary.williams@iop.org.
