Every few years the Nuclear and Particle Physics Division holds a Divisional conference addressing the interests of the main subject groups affiliated to the Division: Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, Gravitational Physics and Astroparticle Physics. This provides an ideal opportunity to explore cross-disciplinary topics, to highlight research synergies, and for delegates to learn about developments in a broader range of physics than their own narrow specialism. A further important common aspect is that all four of these groups now have their research funding provided through the Science and Technology Funding Council.
The 2007 Nuclear and Particle Physics Division Conference on the theme of "New Facilities for Physics" took place from 3rd to 5th April 2007 at the University of Surrey, Guildford. The conference covered topics from four of the groups affiliated to the Division (HEPP, Nuclear, Astroparticle and Gravitational) and a satellite workshop on nuclear isomers and an STFC Particle Physics Town Meeting took place immediately before the meeting. The conference presentations will be made available soon on the archive website (link). Those from the Isomer workshop are already available.
The next Nuclear and Particle Physics Division Conference will be held at Easter 2011 and will be in Glasgow. It will be a three day conference with the full participation of the HEPP, Nuclear, Astroparticle and Gravitational Physics groups. Further details will be posted nearer the time.
