Professor Roland Blackwell Retires

Professor Roland Blackwell

July 2004

Professor Roland Blackwell retired this July after a career in Medical Physics spanning some 37 years. Roland started his career in 1966 when he took up a post at University College Hospital, London, concentrating on diagnostic ultrasound but widening his expertise to encompass both Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine.

In part, it is this broad and detailed knowledge of a variety of Medical Physics disciplines that made Roland such a valued member of the Medical Physics Group committee, for the most part though, it is Roland's clear passion and devotion to all things Medical Physics, and the wisdom borne of a long and distinguished career that will be missed.

The Chair and committee members extend to Roland their thanks and best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
