Diary of Meetings

The following meetings may be of interest to group members. If you would like a meeting to be added then please contact the group.

Forthcoming meetings:

  • Interdisciplinary Surface Science Conference 16 (ISSC16)
The Gateway Building, University of St. Andrews, Scotland, June 25-28, 2007
The ISSC is the flagship UK conference series in the field of surface science, organised by The Thin Films and Surfaces Group. The conference will cover all areas related to surface science, including surface reactivity and dynamics, catalysis and oxide surfaces, chiral surfaces, semiconductor materials, magnetism and spintronics, molecular electronics, theory and modelling of surfaces, organic adsorbates and self-assembly, biointerfaces, electrochemistry and liquid/solid interfaces and thin film growth. Contributions from young researchers, post-docs and post-graduates are particularly encouraged. Bursaries for attendance are available; forms are to be found on the ISSC16 Web site.
  •

  • 9th European Conference on Surface Crystallography and Dynamics
Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, September 2-5, 2007.
The conference will focus on the atomic-scale structure at clean and adsorbate covered single-crystal surfaces as well as on the diffusion dynamics at crystal surfaces and the relation between dynamics and structure.

Recent (finished) meetings:

  • Asian Pacific Conference on Surface Science and Engineering
Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, China,19-21 December 2006.
A wide range of topics in both the fundamental and applied aspects of surface science and engineering will be covered in the conference.
  • 13th International Conference on Solid Films and Surfaces
San Carlos de Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina, November 6-10, 2006.
The ICSFS-13 conference will focus on the advanced and novel physical and chemical properties of films and surfaces. This international meeting will feature the state-of-the-art scientific achievements in the emerging fields of supramolecular objects, nanostructured materials and spintronic among others.
  • ECOSS 24 - European Congress on Surface Science
University of Paris, France, September 4-8, 2006.
ECOSS consists of invited and contributed papers during plenary, oral and posters sessions, on substantial, original, and unpublished research related to Surface and Interface science.
  • Techniques of Surface Sciences and Catalysis - Summer School 2006.
University California, Santa Barbara, USA, August 13-26, 2006.
Topics to be covered include experimental and theoretical approaches to understanding reactivity at the gas/solid and liquid/solid interface.  The summer school will be held at the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara, and speakers will include professors from both UCSB and other US and overseas institutions. The ICMR and PIRE-ECCI welcome applications from graduate students, post-docs and early career faculty members, and funding is available to facilitate the attendance of participants from the US and overseas.
  • Image Analysis for Microscopy 2006
University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK, June 19-21, 2006.
IAfM-06 is an international conference that aims to bring together researchers from all scientific disciplines that make significant use of image analysis and image processing. This will include physics, chemistry, earth sciences and life sciences. The conference will focus on images obtained from microscopy, including light microscopy and all types of scanning microscopy.
